Background

Education, Audio-visual Culture Executive Agency (EACEA), the national agency for Erasmus+ has approved the selection of MARE (Marine Coastal and Delta Sustainability for Southeast Asia) project. The project was launched in February 2020 and is expected to be concluded in September 2023. The project is coordinated by University of Bremen and participated by 13 universities, including UniKL.

MARE in general aims to promote sustainable governance & management of coastal, delta & marine (CDM) socio-ecological systems in MY & VN and adjacent waters through ICT-enhanced tertiary education linked to labour markets & wider stakeholder circles. This aim will be achieved through the following objectives:  

 

  • To revise and upgrade selected CDM-relevant BSc, MSc & PhD CDM programs in PIs to make them end-user-oriented & policy relevant, and develop 6 modules addressing CDM-related hotspots, that can be used interchangeably in tertiary & LLL education.

  • To develop shared MARE open education environment platform & online training services of the new generation for qualitative improvement of the education process & academic workflow support among universities & stakeholders across the PCs & EU.

  • To create sustainable feedback mechanisms to end-users, ensuring adaptive & practice-relevant teaching contents, knowledge co-production opportunities and stakeholder support to post-project course development & teaching.

  • To develop capacity for academic mobility, shared experimental facilities and joint research by PIs & beyond.

UniKL Project Poster:

The poster has been developed for internal execution of the participation in the Erasmus+ project. In the poster, UniKL shared the aim , the outcome and the team participate in the project.

Welcoming and Orientation Day

The Welcoming and Orientation Day event hosted by UniKL and UniKL MIMET were conducted for new students once accepted the offer. It were conducted every semester for all programme offered (Bachelor programme and postgraduate programme).The briefing was conducted by Lecturer, Subject Matter Experts and MARE team member. The main objective ware to share the background of Universiti Kuala Lumpur, the Do and Don't, teaching and learning environments, university culture and to expose the students of the participation MARE undating and new developed courses into their programme.

Postgraduate Colloquium

It is an event organize by Postgraduate Section, Universiti Kuala Lumpur Malaysian Institute of Marine Engineering Technology. It is created to inculcate research and innovation culture among researchers and postgraduate students, and it is conducted in semester basis.
It is home grown activity with the ideas for sharing with others academia with the study made by postgraduate students. The event participates by local and international postgraduate students also involve our own staff that pursuing their study.
The colloquium will help the postgraduate students to growth their confident while sharing their outcome and exchange their project novelty for future development. Organizer give an opportunity for MARE to advertise and promote the project during the session. The information has circulated for their info and further discussion.

 

2nd International Conference on Marine and Advanced Technologies (ICMAT) 2021

The 2nd International Conference on Marine and Advanced Technologies was conducted on 24th August 2021. It is annual event organized by Universiti Kuala Lumpur Malaysian Institute of Marine Engineering Technology. It is home grown conference with the ideas to involve with the participation from local and international researchers and inventors.

The conference was collaborating with the academia and stakeholder. It is the platform to change and update the latest technologies involve in engineering and operations especially in maritime sector. More then 75 papers have been presented during the event.
Organizer give an opportunity for MARE to advertise and promote the project during the parallel session. The information has circulated for their info and further discussion.

Industry Engagement Dialogue

Industry Engagement Dialogue was conducted on 18th November 2021. It is an event organized by Universiti Kuala Lumpur, Corporate Communication Department together with International, Industrial and Institutional Partnership Unit. The main objective of the event to discuss from industry perspective on potential workforce to succeed in the era of the 4th Industry Revolution.
The dialogue brings the expert from various industry that actively exposed in the IR 4.0 culture. The panel involve in the dialogue were Dr. Peter Blomeyer (German Ambassor to Malaysia), Mr. Daniel Bernbeck (CEO of Malaysia-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry), Prof. Ir. Dr. Azmi Hassan (Managing Director of German-Malaysian Institute), Dr. James J. Govindasamy (General Manager of CIBA Vision and Mr. Christoph Muller (Senior VP Operation at B.Braun Asia Pasific).

Malaysia Maritime Week

Malaysia Shipowners’ Association (MASA) with collaboration with Marine Department Malaysia (MARDEP) and supported by the Ministry of Transportation (MOT) has organized an event name Malaysia Maritime Week 2022 (MMW22) held at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre from 22nd - 25th February 2022. MMW22 engaged prominent experts and specialists from across the industry to discuss the l attest developments and challenges in maritime sphere. This exhibition brings together the maritime ecosystem under one roof, and offers the ability for networking, business opportunity and stay in touch with your colleagues.

With the theme, ‘New Technologies for Greener Shipping”, the vent provided a spotlight on discussions for green transition of the maritime sector. The maritime industry needs to thrive in the new normal, to move beyond recovering from this crisis towards focusing on building effective strategies and exploring new approaches to emerge successfully from this global pandemic.

Universiti Kuala Lumpur had a chance to give a talk during sharing knowledge session, the speaker briefly discussed about the programme that has collaboration and funded by Erasmus Mundus fund. Speaker shared the objective, the benefit and outcome been participate in the project.

Summer School

The programme jointly organised by Universiti Teknologi Petronas. Most of the partners sent the representatives consists of academia and students.

In the events, it gives an opportunity for the students to learn from the expert. The speakers brings a lots of case studies and issues related with MARE themes.

In the second week students most expose to industrial visit. the industrial partners participated in the program were VALE Mineral Sdn. Bhd. and Lumut Port. Students also had a chance to hear the sustainability programme made by the industry to sustain the environment, community  and social engagement.

UniKL Open Day

The event conducted yearly basis. This event open to public. the objective is to showcase the strength and importance maritime industry and the benefit joining the  programme. 

MARE had a chance to share the involvement to strengthen the curricular and syllabus during the sharing session.

Stakeholders Symposium

The event organized to bring stakeholders (industry, institutional, NGO) inside the campus. the event open to students and staffs.

UNICT Sharing Session

The session was created to garb an opportunity during the coordination visit by University of Catania, Italy.

During the session, both professor had a chance to meet and give an experiences with the project involves in their research field. Prof, Daniele also shared an opportunity for students to pursue their postgraduate in Italy with specific title with scholarship.

Coordination Visit by Anton Shkaruba

Universiti Kuala Lumpur hosted coordination visit by Dr. Anton Shkaruba. The main objective of the visit is to discuss the final technical report to be prepared at the end of the project period. During the meeting, we discussed all the criteria requires in the report such as relevance of the project results, regional cooperation, activities implemented, quality assurance measures, equipment, curriculum development, governance, link with society, dissemination, and sustainability of the results.

MARE E-Learning Training at EMU, Tartu, Estonia.

MARE E-Learning Training and Experience Exchange Stay (Summer School) was held from 8th August 2023 until 11th August 2023 at Estonian University of Life Sciences.  This program intended for training sessions and to take part in other experience exchange events in relation to the development and deployment of ICT infrastructure as well-advanced teaching and learning methodology in higher education.

3rd International Conference on Marine and Advanced Technologies (ICMAT) 2023

The 3rd International Conference on Marine and Advanced Technologies was conducted on 28th August 2023. It is an international event organized by Universiti Kuala Lumpur Malaysian Institute of Marine Engineering Technology. It is home grown conference with the ideas to involve with the participation from local and international researchers and inventors.

The conference was collaborating with the academia and stakeholder. It is the platform to change and update the latest technologies involve in engineering and operations especially in maritime sector. More then 70 papers have been presented during the event.
1 project participate in the bilateral project has been presented during the parallel session. The title of the project was Fluid Structure Interaction Analysis on Drag Force for Semi-Submersible.

Final Meeting, University of Natural Resources and Environment, Ho Chi Minh City

HCMUNRE hosted the final project meeting held from 5th to 7th September 2023. the main objectives were to take a holistic view of project results, to discuss post-project sustainability, to discuss and distribute project reporting tasks and consultations re-financial and content reporting.
